ECO RESPONSIBILITY

Mindful Sustainability

Sustainability at Oasis is creating a greener future for Bali and our Earth. We have taken steps to reduce our carbon footprint while ensuring uncompromising quality for our guests.

From Energy & Water Conservation, Waste Management, Sustainable Materials, and, most importantly, Guest Awareness.

At Oasis, we’ve taken a firm stand against single-use plastics, and we’re not alone in this. We’re calling on our guests to join us in this important mission. Our RO water system is a prime example of how we’re reducing plastic waste, and we’re proud to offer unlimited access to drinking water in our common areas and rooms. Together, we can make a difference, and your active involvement is key to our success.

Reverse Osmosis

To help keep single-use plastic water bottles out of Oasis and Bali, we have installed a Reverse Osmosis (RO) system for drinking water, which is available complimentary to all our guests.

Reverse osmosis is a process used to remove ions, mineral chemicals, and other impurities from water. In this process, greater pressure is applied, forcing the water to travel through the semipermeable membrane, in the opposite direction of natural osmosis.

After the water has been filtered we have cleaner drinking water than any commercial bottled water in Bali. We use the RO water to fill all of our water dispensers and glass bottles. These are in the common rooms and each room (1 in the mini-fridge and 1 on the counter).

Solar Power

We have installed 64 Solar Panels here at Oasis, which generates enough power for our entire Retreat Center during the day and sometimes it can even save some for the night. On a normal beautiful day in Bali, we produce around 100 kWh. This is equivalent to planting around 500 trees per year and saving over 34,000 CO2 emissions into our Earth.

What is Solar? Solar technologies convert sunlight into electrical energy either through photovoltaic (PV) panels or through mirrors that concentrate solar radiation. This energy can be used to generate electricity or be stored in batteries.

At Oasis, we’ve taken significant steps towards energy efficiency. Our power standards, managed by Control4, a smart home system, include Solar Panels, Timers on our lights and pumps, LED lighting, and Motion Sensors. These measures are helping us move closer to our goal of being Net Zero.

Organic Waste Management

We have partnered with "EcoBali" to help us set up a system for all our organic waste using a compost system.

Composting is a biodegradation method in which organic matter, such as food scraps and leaves, decomposes into high-quality fertilizer. The best part we are then able to use this fertilizer for our landscaping.

With this process, we have been able to manage our food portions to limit excess food waste. This reduction in waste, when composted, prevents the release of methane and CO2 in landfills, a major issue on our small island.
